"Visitors to the Centre can view the interpretative wildlife displays and learn of the historical use of the area, first known as Pukekura. The magnificent poutokomanawa is a feature of the centre and depicts the ancestors of the local maori tribes. The comfortable cafe allows for views of flying albatross and a shop provides souvenirs and gifts of Unique Taiaroa. Closed circuit television provides a unique glimpse of activity in the colony."
