Located at the confluence of the Gunnison and Uncompahgre Rivers, Confluence Park has a 70 acre lake, picnic sites, wildlife areas and miles of walking trails shaded by the old cottonwood trees that border the rivers. Nearby is a reconstruction of Fort Uncompahgre, built in 1828 by trader Antoine Robidoux opperating out of Santa Fe, NM. Fort Uncompahgre was a significant location for Mexican, French and American contact and trade with the Ute tribes who frequented this area."
